In the space of two years, the American, who was crowned World Longboard Champion in 2007 having finished in second place the previous season, has become the new global star of longboarding. Her easy noseriding, Californian style and ability to combine radical moves with graceful stances and her range of technical skills are the biggest advantages. When she's feeling confi dent, the surfer from San Diego is capable of the most daring moves, as demonstrated by her fi n fi rst waves at the Roxy Jam Biarritz last year. The challenge of assuming and defending her title, series after series, and left her febrile when it came to fight for a place in the final. Jen ultimately had to settle for third place, clearly some way below her own lofty ambitions. The bubbly Miss Smith, who has no doubt learned from that experience, will be in Biarritz where she will attempt to regain her crown.
